Every two years Proserpine State School puts a huge amount of effort and time into presenting a dramatic performance, usually in the form of a musical.

This task is usually about 6 months in the making, with children from Years 5, 6 and 7 being the main participants.

2008 Performance - A Tale of Two Kitties

A Tale of Two Kitties is a story about 2 cats competing in a singing competition and the dramas surrounding them in their endeavours. Of course there is the evil City Cat and the innocent Country Cat, along with the resident Cool Cats, Alley Cats as well as a Crow, Skatedogs and the fumbling 3 Blind Mice.

Horatio and friends

This musical was written by some of Proserpine State School's staff members and was a performance appealing to all age groups. The children practised for over 6 months, learning lines, songs, dances and drama. All of this work culmininated in a matinee performance for other schools and the local aged care homes, followed by 2 night performances which were booked out both nights, with people returning the second night to enjoy the show again. We even had the pleasure of our Regional Executive Director of schools, Wayne Butler, coming to enjoy the show. He had wonderful things to say about the production.

Excerpt from our Anuual School Magazine: "Black cats, white cats, fluffy cats, stray cats, scraggy cats ! Cats and more cats was the scene for this year’s Musical which was a great success.  All the hard work, many hours of rehearsals and work behind the scenes was all forgotten after the wonderful reviews by our community. This year a number of staff decided to write an original script accompanied by some very well-known songs which entertained and dazzled the audience. The formula was obviously a successful one.  The level of enjoyment and sense of achievement displayed by the students made the effort so worthwhile.  It’s these type of experiences that provide the students with so many wonderful memories. A big thank-you again to all involved!"
