Girl's ICT Club

The Smart Classrooms Girls and ICT Strategy calls on schools and parents to take more active roles in making information and communication technology (ICT) more appealing to schoolgirls.

The main objective of the Girls and ICT Strategy is to help make ICT integral to learning by ensuring schoolgirls have appropriate access to rich ICT opportunities that retain their interest in ICT, so they become competent and confident creators with, and users of, ICT.

Proserpine State School supports this initiative through our Girl's ICT Club, 'The Glitz Club'. This club, named by the girls (Girls Learning Information Technology Skills) meets every week after school for an hour and a half.

The club is open to girls from Year 5 to Year 7 with an open invitation for the Year 7 girls to return to join us in highschool as well.

Some of the projects covered:

  • Gamemaker - creating games
  • Photostory
  • Storytelling Alice - a 3D movie making program
  • Creation of a club shirt
  • Epals
  • Email
  • Go Go Gidgets
  • Elouai Dolls
